Koop Sheet Metal Gauge Conversion Chart

Gauge measures the thickness of sheet metal, but not all gauges are identical. As the gauge number increases, the material’s thickness decreases; however, the same gauge can represent a range of thicknesses (from low to high). Additionally, thickness can vary between different material types, for example a 12g aluminum flat sheet may be slightly different from a 12g stainless steel flat sheet. The following gauge conversion chart shows the specific thicknesses of each gauge we offer and does not apply to other metal suppliers, who might provide the thinnest material (a low end) allowed for a given gauge. Understanding metal thickness is crucial for making an informed purchase.
